The awards ceremony and prize distribution of Roo Siththam 2016 Kandy
The awards ceremony and prize distribution of "Roo Siththam 2016", an all-island, annual, Children's art competition organized by Fashion Bug was held at the Hindu Cultural Center - Kandy recently in commemoration of world children's day.
"Roo Siththam"is the signature annual event pertaining to"Sisu Dirimaga"- Fashion Bug's social sustainability platform dedicated to education and the upliftment of Sri Lankan students. This year the competition yielded over 60,000 entries from all over the island representing over 400 schools. Over 800 students belonging to three age categories, namely 7 -9 , 10-12 and 13-15 were recognized for their achievements at the Award Ceremony, which is one of the most sought after events among the little art enthusiasts of Sri Lanka. Initiated in the year 2011 with the objective of identifying the creative talents of school children. This event has been growing in size and popularity over the last 6 years with a year on year growth in the number of entries being submitted.
The Chief Guest at the Kandy Event was Hon. S. B. Dissanayake, Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare-Sri Lank were the guests of Honors. Principals, teachers and parents were among the other guests who attended the event!
